At Compass Holidays, we have always loved The National Trails and between us have walked every step of the sixteen paths. To take the hassle out of booking your trip, we've created pre-set itineraries that we will book on your behalf (choose from the list below), or you can ask us for an entirely bespoke tour tailored to your walking experience, desired daily distance, and personal preferences. We can also make any of the tours dog friendly, and can advise on those little extras to make your trip perfect, like dietary requirements, or points of interest that you'll enjoy. The UK is famous for its National Trails: long-distance walking routes with paths that are managed and maintained to specific Quality Standards, alongside easy to follow signposts so you don't get lost (unless you want to of course!). The distinctive acorn symbol marks these paths, helping you to traverse the 2,500+ miles of UK landscape.
How many National Trails are there?
There are sixteen trails to choose from, from the shortest at just 79 miles (Yorkshire Wolds Way) taking an average of 6 days to complete, to the longest at 630 miles (South West Coast Path), taking up to 8 weeks to ramble at a leisurely pace. We have long been lovers of all the National Trails here at Compass Holidays, particularly our local one, The Cotswold Way.
